Five Reasons to Support Restless Books

December 18, 2019 in Fundraising

Dear readers and friends,

Here at Restless, we’re looking back on what’s been a really wonderful year:

  • We started 2019 with rave reviews for Giacomo Sartori’s I Am God, and we finished it with the Financial Times naming it a best book of 2019

  • Rivka Galchen’s glorious children’s book debut Rat Rule 79 sparked joy in us, Lemony Snicket, and NPR’s limerick writer Philipp Goedicke, among many others

  • The Body Papers, Grace Talusan’s extraordinary memoir of trauma and healing, reached readers far and wide through Talusan’s cross-country book tour, her feature in Bitch Magazine, and the New York Times 2019 Critics’ Picks

  • Our Classics Behind Bars program brought beautiful editions of Frankenstein and Don Quixote to incarcerated individuals

That’s just a sampling of what we’ve done this year, thanks to our many amazing individual donors. Here are five more reasons to donate to Restless Books:

  1. You can give the gift of great books all year long and support indie publishing by giving a Restless Readers Club gift subscription.

  2. We’re building a more inclusive, vibrant literary culture right here in New York City through our Immigrant Writing Workshops—and in 2020, we’re bringing these workshops to the Brooklyn Public Library.

  3. While just 3% of books published in the US are in translation, we’re doing our part to close the gap in 2020, with brilliant books from Iran, Estonia, Peru, Cuba, Argentina, Finland, and Israel.

  4. We're a 501(c)(3), so your gift is fully tax-deductible.

  5. There's no substitute for translated literature. Right now, there’s nothing more necessary than books that cross borders and expand minds.

If you’ve already donated—we’re so grateful for your support. If you haven’t, will you take a moment to make a donation? You can do so by clicking here, or by sending a check here:
